Happy Holidays!
October 14, 2021
Ottawa Ontario - Wednesday October 27, 2021 and Thursday October 28, 2021 from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., a virtual and free legal clinic will be offered to the public of Ontario.
Organized by the Law Practice Program (LPP) of the Faculty of Law (Common Law Section) of the University of Ottawa and the Ontario Legal Information Center (the Center), this temporary virtual clinic will be accessible to all attendants, regardless the income level.
The candidates in the licensing process of the Law Society of Ontario and lawyers will attend the clinic and offer free 30-minutes information and legal orientation sessions in family law, employment law / human rights, housing law, wills and estates and income maintenance, all in English and French. Due to the pandemic, meetings will be by telephone.
According to Christiane Saad, Director of the LPP, the Clinic will give candidates a virtual practical experience with the public and will sensitize them to the reality of practicing law in the province, in order to allow the population to have access to services of equal quality in both official languages. “From its inception, one of the mandates of the PPD in French was to promote access to justice in French in the North. This activity shows that our candidates are ready to serve the Francophone community in all corners of the province in all circumstances. "
Ms. Valérie Lacroix, interim manager of the Centre, is delighted to have the opportunity to partake in this specific experience once more. Since its launch in January 2015, the Centre has offered more than 15,000 legal information meetings to litigants from across Ontario. "This mobile clinic is the perfect opportunity for the Centre to increase awareness of its services throughout Ontario and to support tomorrow’s legal professionals.”
The consultations will take place over the phone:
